Who invented the tracy switch,who invented the tracy railroad track switch

An inventer 1800's named tracy invented some part of the railroad track switch. It was called the tracy switch

I looked at Tracy's patent. But that was only for an improved switch stand, and not a rail pattern. I believe the one shown at left - next to the common pattern - is an early rail profile used prior to the Civil War. I have only read this from one source many years ago, and can't find that source again. I understand it was termed the "U-rail". The piece shown was unearthed in PA in a home garden and was on E-Bay recently. Any additional help will be greatly appreciated.

William Tracy invented the "Tracy Switch" See photo....
The rail type on the left is called the Evans Pattern. Introduced from England, it was first rolled in Mt Savage Md in 1844, making it the first iron edged rail rolled in the US.

This (left side) is a type of rail used in Pennsylvania and Great Britain prior to 1860. Could this be the "Tracy" pattern?
