I would have guessed that the animal that kills the most people every year is the human. Apparently, the mosquito kills more humans than any other animal. These nasty creatures carry nasty diseases such as Malaria and West Nile disease and spread these diseases rapidly in various places of the world. Most people would not think that the answer to this question would be a mosquito and would first think of a tough and mean animal like a lion or something. The mosquito's travel a lot though, and by biting people, they spread diseases and kill hundreds of thousands of people in the world.

Yes, mosquitoes are responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths per year, as do tsetse flies, but those deaths are indirect (caused by diseases carried by the insects, not by the insects themselves). Snakes kill up to 50,000 people a year, directly. As for deadliest mammal, that honor goes to the hippopotamus, with about 3,000 people dying from hippo attacks per year.

The Mosquito kills over 670,000 people, every single year. Mostly through the spreading of diseases such as Malaria and West Nile. This is far more than any other animal, and twice the amount of human to human killings. Which number around 320,000 people per year.

There are many animals that kill humans (including humans) but the one that has the highest kill count is the mosquito at 725,000 per year. This is just under approximately 300,000 from human killings every year done by, you guessed it, humans.
