Do you like snow?

I love snow but it gets too cold where I live. What about you?

I used to love snow when I was child. I never had to shovel it or walk through it too much. My parents drove me everywhere. Snow meant I could get out of school early or for the whole day. I used to love sledding down hills and building snowmen.

Now that I am an adult, I am not a fan of snow. I walk everywhere I need to go, and snow just becomes a problem when getting place to place. I don't mind a few flakes here and there, but when it really snows, it is such a nuisance. When we had 3 blizzards in one winter a few years ago, that was the breaking point for me. I had to climb over mounds of snow, walk through slush in the middle of the street, and suffer from frigid temperatures just to get to the grocery store. That was all the snow I ever needed to see.

I do not mind the snow, I even like shoveling, it is the cold I dislike.

Now to qualify my statement, I live rurally, on a hobby farm, at 7 am every winter morning I have to go out to feed my pet sheep, I have to do the same thing at night. It does not matter how cold it is, they need to eat. Some winters have been so snowy I even have to make paths for them through the deep snow (especially when they are pregnant and their tummies are so wide).

I do not have a tractor or snow plow. I even have to shovel my driveway myself and it is long. My husband had a heart attack so he is not suppose to help shoveling.

Pictured below is my driveway, when we are lucky it does not snow much and the wind blows it away.

It's been a while since I've been up close and personal with snow, since the state I'm in it only snow every few years and the city practically shuts down because we're not used to it! Other states would seriously laugh at us lol. I like the snow to look at in pictures or through a window, where it's nice and warm in the house. I even like walking through snow that is not too deep. I don't like the snow when it snows you in your house or creates transportation problems. So I guess to the question do I like the snow? Yes and no.

I live in sunny Southern California where we complain about cold when it gets down to 50! I love the look of snow, but hate the cold that goes along with it. I really only like snow for snow sports like skiing. Otherwise, I could really do without it. Because we don't get to see it very often anymore it is nice for a few days for a ski trip but I am perfectly fine not living with it, it makes driving such a mess!

I live in Australia and I love snow but I believe I love it so much just because of its novelty, as it only snows in other states of Australia and not where I live. The last time I saw snow that was thick to ski or play with (opposed to ice) was in New Zealand. It is hard to dream of snow right now as we are in the midst of our hottest summer ever in Oz right now with many bush fires.

I like snow only if it snows twice a year, which sometimes it does where I am in California's high desert area, near Big Bear. When it does snow here, we sometimes take pictures of the snow because some years we only get snow once a year.

I love the snow, but not the blizzards. I once lived in Maryland and enjoyed the winter wonderland. Winter time is a great time to snuggle and reflect on the good times.

Snow is beautiful and I enjoy looking at it. I do not want to be in it, however, because at my age, the cold hurts my bones and joints too much.
