Do you believe in UFOs from other planets? Extraterrestrial life?

If so, provide what you think is good evidence. If not, tell why as well.
A

I do not believe there is any convincing evidence for intelligent alien life.

Despite numerous UFO sightings and alleged abductions by aliens, there are no alien artefacts sitting in any museum or laboratory, nor have the aliens, despite apparently not going to any great lengths to conceal their presence, if these reports are to be believed, made any attempt to contact us.

This does not make any sense to me: either they would want us to know about them or they would not. If they did, they would presumably announce themselves in some way which left no room for doubt. If they did not want us to know about them, then if they have the technology to get here, they would surely have the technology to conceal themselves a bit better, with the result that we wouldn't see any UFOs and 'abductees' would remember absolutely nothing.

Of course, it is impossible to go through every single UFO report and fully explain it, but the problem is that they are all accounts by witnesses, who may have been mistaken in what they thought they saw or experienced; there is no hard evidence.

As for the question of extraterrestrial life, it seems likely that there is life of some sort elsewhere in our galaxy, and perhaps even in the solar system. The fact that life appeared on Earth very soon (geologically speaking) after conditions became tolerable for life as we know it suggests that life is quite likely to arise on an Earth-like planet. There are some scientists who think that life may have arived on Earth from elsewhere in the galaxy, carried on comets, asteroids or dust (this is known as the panspermia theory, and its best known proponents are Chandra Wickramasinge and the late Sir Fred Hoyle) and if this is the case we would expect it to have arrived on many other planets, and perhaps taken hold on those, if any, which were Earth-like.

Of course, it may be that Earth-like planets are extremely rare - we may know the answer to this within the next few decades as our ability to detect ever smaller extra-solar planets grows. We may even be able to analyse their atmospheres: if we detect significant amounts of free oxygen, this would be a strong indication of life.

The big question is whether there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe. Even if life is common, it may be that it does not usually get beyond the microbial stage. Quite possibly, Earth is the only planet with intelligent, technologically advanced life in our galaxy. So far SETI (the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) has failed to detect any radio, or other signals or signs which indicate intelligent life. The search goes on, and some day it might find something, but another odd fact is that we have not found any alien artefacts on or around Earth or any large scale structures or evidence of intelligent intervention in physical processes which we might expect a highly advanced civilisation to engage in. For example, they might build large structures around stars to capture energy or extract essential elements from them, but no evdence has been found for these kinds of activities. It has also been calculated that a civilisation not that much more advanced than our own could initiate a colonisation of the galaxy using intelligent, self-reproducing robotic probes which would only take a few million years: there has been plenty of time for this to happen, as there seems to have bee nothing to stop an intelligent civilisation emerging billions of years ago, and plenty of motivation, as obviously spreading out in this way would make them much less vulnerable to local disasters, but it clearly hasn't happened.

All of this leads me to doubt that there is currently intelligent life elsewhere in our galaxy, but I may be wrong; we'll just have to wait and see if SETI comes up with anything, or if ET comes to visit us.

I absolutely believe in Extraterrestrial life and UFO's. First off, we would have to be very vain and nieve to believe that out of the entire universe we are the only planet that is capable of developing life - intelligent life. Talk about being narrow minded. In addition, if you read the scriptures, they tell us that there are other worlds. For example, in Hebrews 1 verse 2 God tells us that through "his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds", it clearly states that worlds were made and not just one world. Worlds that have intellegent life. Worlds created long before the Earth.

To understand more of who these beings are goes deep into religion itself. Many people believe that aliens don't exist because the Bible states that man was made in the image of God and, if that were so, why then are the reported sightings/abductions descriptions of aliens consistently describing aliens as looking very different than we do? This goes to the core of whether or not there are, in fact, more than one God. We are made after the image of God of our world but who is to say what other Gods may look like? I know, that sounds absurd but it is something to think about.

I do have to laugh when people say that there is absolutely no evidence of extraterrestrial life. There are mountains of evidence which they simply choose to ignore or try to explain away. Not everything can be explained away.

Some people say that if aliens were real and they clearly are far more advanced than we are, then why don't they just let themselves be known? They could control our world. That is thinking on our level. Perhaps they are just studying our evolution and technological advances to understand their own history and they do not want to alter ours by disrupting the natural course of our existence. There could be a plethora of reasons why they have not just out and out revealed themselves. You will easily be able to find a thousand theories on that.

I don't know about UFO's, but yes I think there are other planets that support 'life'. It would be arrogant to believe that 'we are alone in the universe'. We have not yet reached our potential for space travel. I'm sure over time our bodies would adapt to 'no' gravity as with our species, we push to survive and expand.

It's just not our time yet. We exist, so why can't other life exist? I think that however the only way we will truly push forward out of our atmosphere is we are confronted with extinction. Humanity in its comfort zone is dangerous to itself. When you are comfortable you won't debate about things, and you have no reason to push for survival.

I'm sure that discovering 'life' out there will be a welcome unexpected 'relief'. But there is also the possibility that they might be hostile. We are fragile, diseased, and we don't live very long, but we overcome all of this every single day. And even we die (daily) people push forward and multiply.

Somebody saw somewhere something without the knowledge of that thing is an UFO.

If any extraterrestrial life is super-advanced to create a flying object to cross the vast interstellar distance like crossing Atlantic Ocean and go back their home, than we will not be able to identify their flying machine. It will not be like NASA's spaceship. They have to cross the speed of light by many thousands times, or may be more. There are billions of Galaxies in the universe. Somewhere there may be super-advanced species capable of traversing the galaxies. They come and see us, a just civilized with a nuclear capabilities planet not enough technologies to explore our own galaxies. They do not bother us and just fly away. Possibly we are not a threat to them. Not yet.

They may be real, only we do not know with our technology.

If by other planets u include our own planet then my answer is yes! the most compelling evidence to me is Erich Von Daniken's theory of Ancient Astronauts which can be watched on history television as they did a series on Von Daniken's findings. It is also worth mentioning Bob Lazzar, claimed x-area 51 employee, who has many video's on youtube. Turns out you don't have to go far to see the evidence of extraterrestrial life, check into Richard Hogland's theories about the moon, europa, and Mars, as well as David Ike's perspective on the moon. I hope these names provide you with hours of video and documentaries to watch, enjoy:) Oh, and last but not least Stephen Hawkings Into the Universe is a good watch as well.

Yes I do. And if you measure all the evidence gathered over century's. It is impossible to deny there is Extraterrestrial life. Even the recent sightings, should give sound proof there are other life forms out there. We are being watched. And I somehow believe we were guided in the direction of space travel.
The short time man has been around, he has accomplished a lot, when it comes to space travel. But the wisdom we have is so minute. The lights in the sky, are a thing we can't explain. Nor can we catch one. This should give an indication of where we are as far as space travel, and how far behind we are to something or someone we know nothing about.

I do believe in other life forms from other planets. Its kinda selfish to think that planet earth is the only planet to have intelligent life on it. There is too much unknown about space and what may or may not be out there. All those stars out there just to be pretty and give us something to look at? I think not. I have not personally seen anything like a ufo but I don't think that all those people who have are crazy. Someone out there has some real answers and why they aren't being shared with everyone is beyond me.

The theories about the phenomenon known as the UFO are basically
1. Misunderstood natural phenomena
2. Fraud and hoax
3. Extraterrestrial aliens
4. Some form of life from this planet, possibly one that lives in the atmosphere
5. Some form of being from a parallel universe
6. Projections of collective anxieties

I favour

7. All of these and some I missed.

I consider 4,5,6 the most likely and favour 6 over 5 slightly

Absolutely. Not only have I seen a UFO before, but there is no possible way that, out of the trillions upon trillions of planets in the universe, earth is the only planet with intelligent life. I think it's only a matter of time before we make first contact.

Yes, I do believe in UFOs from other planets. The documentation to me is valuable, along with that lies the proof of the planet Jupiter. A planet that exudes a long list of extraterrestial activity. I however do not subscribe to the little 3ft. martian belief.
