Vaccines do work.
although they only work for the specific virus the are designed to control. And to make the vaccine for next season is a guess and a gamble. There is no way for them to identify which flu virus will be the most widespread or which virus will kill the most people.
-Yet to try and influence someone to take no vaccines is irresponcible. while you still may catch the flu if you get a vaccine you may not catch the strong flu that is the most deadly or so easily transmitted. By you not catching the strong or fast moving strain it limits their distribution through a population. Thus preventing contact with the most vulnerable individuals and limiting the number of people that die.
-I feel it safe to not vacinate if you do not come in contact with many strangers, you do not live with very old people or very young children, or your immune system is not compromised by other illness.
-Some vacinnes have been found to contain harmfull ingredients so do not just take them for the fun of it.

They trigger your bodies immune system to manufacture antibodies.
They do this by exposing your immune system to the weakend shell of the virus. It is the shape of the virus that controls whether it can penetrate the cell membrane. The new vaccines expose your cellular defences to the New shapes caused by the virus mutating. Many times the DNA content of the virus will be the same as the old virus that you are already immune to from years before.
-Your cells also have little markers on the outside of the cell telling the immune system that they are part of you. Some virus' hide inside molecules that belong and gain access to the cell that way.
-
How ever the virus works the vaccine just makes the body recognize it as an intruder faster by exposing the immune system to the virus but the virus in the vaccine has been modified to not destroy the cell like the real virus would.

They don't. Vaccine progammes were always initiated at the end of the epidemic. They contain a cocktail of poisons such as carcinogens, antifreeze agents, mercury, decomposed animal parts (the virus is grown on these e.g. chicken brains and to keep it alive must be injected into blood with the virus). They cause a number of conditions and even death. Sadly, as with most medicines it comes down to their money being more important than our health.

From what I remember, the vaccine would typically contain very weakened or dead versions of the virus, so your immune system could build an immunity to it while it doesn't pose a threat. Otherwise, the full-strength of the virus would be too much too soon for your immunity system to do much before the virus takes over.
I hope this helps answer your question. =) I have never had a vaccine or flu shot or anything of the like however.

The flu vaccine is not a live vaccine meaning it does not contain any living form of the flu and can not make you sick. It works by tricking your body into thinking you have been exposed to the flu and as such your body begins the production of antibodies. Antibodies are like little bits of code the body uses to fight off foreign objects in the body, kind of like teaching the inner workings of your body martial arts.

They work by giving you a mild case of the flu so you build up immunity. I don't take the flu shot, as I like to get my flu the old fashioned way, off of peoples door handles and steering wheels.
