The square root of 7 is: 2.645751311064590590... (and it keeps on going)
There are three ways to find the square root of any positive number:
1) Using the internet
2) Using a hand held calculator
3) Doing it by hand
1 - Go to this website:
http://squarerootcalculator.net/
Plug in any number that you want and it will give you the square root of that number.
2 - Try to find a hand held calculator and look for the square root button. Please see the picture below to see how the square root symbol looks like. All you have to do is type in a number on the calculator and press the square root button, the calculator should give you an answer.
3 - If you want to calculate the square root by hand without a calculator, check out this very good website on how to do it:

I hope this helps.
Finding square root of such number may be hard but here is the trick.
as you know,
- sq. root of 4 is = 2
- sq. root of 9 is = 3
since 7 lies in between you can ballpark that it should be between 2 and 3.
For exact value (sq. root of 7 =2.645...) you can use calculator or any computation method.
The square root of 7 is an irrational number. It is 2.65...... Please note, however, that any decimal answer that you use is and inferior, calculator approximation. It is far more accurate to leave your answer looking likt the square root symbol with the number 7. This describes an exact value, not an approximation.
...Since a square root is one of two equal factors of a number; for example, the square root of 81 is 9 because 9 X 9, or 9 2 , = 81
Your answer is 2.64575131
because 2.64575131 x 2.64575131 = 7

Everyone in this thread is neglecting the negative root.
7 has two roots, both irrational numbers.
The positive is listed above by several people, to get the other, multiply by minus 1.
All of the above answers are just approximations. There is no well defined number that when squared gives you exactly 7. Bob shows you a simple way to get started, and get a rough estimate of the value.
...7 is not a perfect square and so its square root is a decimal number. Square root of 7 is 2.64575
