how do your write 0.45 as a fraction?, urgent please. thanks in advance

Before attempting to convert it, first find out how many decimal places are in the figure above, and ask yourself what was its original form before being converted to a decimal and lastly, what made it to be a decimal.

-0.45 has two decimal places and originally it was 45 only that it was divided by 100 to become a decimal.
-So, to eliminate the decimal first, we will multiply it with 100 i.e. 0.45 x 100 = 45
-Then to covert it to a fraction we will divide 45 by 100 but this time round we will simplify it to its simplest form and leave it with no decimals.
-= 45 100
-Find a common divisor for the denominator and numerator that break them down to their simplest forms.

5 is the common digit because for the numerator it result to (45/5) = 9
And for the denominator it results to (100/5) = 20

So the final fraction in its simplest form is 9/20.

You need to produce a whole number first, so:

0.45 x 100 = 45 , now to maintain equality divide by the multiplier needed to produce the whole number:

45/100 is the fraction we arrive at, now we need to simplify, or, reduce the fraction to it's simplest for. We do this by dividing the top and bottom of the expression until you can't go any further, or, find the highest common factor.

45 / 100 divided by 5 = 9 / 20 which cant't be reduced and 5 also represents the highest common factor.

So the answer is 9 / 20.

You look at the farthest digit to the right which in this case would be the 5. The 5 is in the hundreths place which is the second place to the right of the decimal point. This means that the two digits that are significant in this number, the 4 and the 5 are placed over 100 to make the fraction 45/100. Now because both 45 and 100 are divisable by 5, the fraction 45/100 can be reduced down to 9/20.

9/20 = 45/100 = 0.45

0.45 is 45 hundredths or 45 /100

Now this can be simplified by finding the HCF or highest common factor of the numerator and denominator of the fraction, in this case 5

So dividing the numerator and denominator by 5 gives

45/100 = 9/20

0.45 has 2 decimal points, it is 45 divided by 100. So, we put it in fraction, the answer will be 45/100. This answer can be simplified by dividing both 45 and 100 with 5, so 45/100 is equivalent to 9/20.

9/20 - Lowest common denominator of 0.45 and 1.00 is 5, 45/5 = 9 and 100/5 = 20.

.45 as fraction is 45/100 = 9/20
