Can Science really read minds?

6 Answers
According to the Washington times in 2013, Scientists have now proven they can read minds although they say the technology is very limited. Cal Berkeley Scientists have said the same thing in 2011. I have also read that our brains give off electromagnetic energy If this is true would you not want to keep this a secret? Makes you wonder if they have actually had this ability for a while. It would explain many horrific events.

The sources shouldn't matter. Its the fact that scientists at Berkeley College were able to read minds by depicting imagines of the brain onto a computer screen according to a source seperate from the Washington Times piece. Another scientist Nathan Spreng from Cornell University was able to mimic the same thing. This was conducted by reputable scientists and it should not matter who wrote about it.

If you don't believe in the ability to read minds, shouldn't you put into question the scientists who are quoted as to saying they can and not the people or publication who wrote it?

So far, it appears that scientists can only very, very crudely reconstruct video clips that have been viewed by test subjects, using algorithms based on brain activity.

As for the Washington Times, I agree with Points81 above, regarding its credibility. Not only is the Washington Times a terribly biased right-wing propaganda publication, it was founded by Sun Myung Moon, a religious con artist who LITERALLY claimed to be the Messiah and "humanity's savior."

Basically, intuitive software programs can by mathematical probabilities predict or forecast future behavior or outcomes. Combine advanced mathematics with technological and biological knowledge, and the possibility to 'forecast' or predict future activity becomes ever more possible.

Anyone else want to weigh in on this discussion of reading minds? I am surprised that this has not been reported on cnn, or the late local news. Seems like a big story here but it keeps sliding under the radar for some reason.

I'm not sure the Washington Times is a reliable source. Okay, I'm sure it isn't. Even if you study the electromagnetic activity in a brain, that doesn't tell you what thoughts are going on in there.
