How many continents are there?Sublim50 - 10 Answers
Ah. I like this question! I do believe there will be a difference of opinion on this matter for some time.
It depends however on your definition of a continent. If you are just using your eyes when looking at a world map there are six large and distinct land masses: North America, South America, Australia (or Oceania), Africa, Antarctica and Eurasia (Europe and Asia). It has been postulated that since the people doing the official naming were European they felt obliged to give their own corner of the world status as its own continent. There is a mountain range that separates Europe from Asia, but it may well be a matter of opinion whether or not that makes them separate continents. They are both on the same major tectonic plate (the Eurasian plate).
North America and South America are also connected by land (pre-Panama canal anyway), but they are on their own separate tectonic plates.
By all accounts India should be considered its own continent. It is separate from Eurasian by a HUGE mountain range and is on it's own major plate. The same is true for the Arabian Peninsula.
The reality is, there is no formal definition of a continent. So there are seven, because that is what people say.
Recently, schools have been teaching different answers to this question. My daughter's school teaches that there are only SIX continents. Africa, Antarctica, EuroAsia, Oceania (which used to be Australia), North America, and South America.
I stick by my guns and believe that there are still seven continents: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. Of course, I still consider Pluto to be a planet.
My Dear friend, there are 7 continents in this world. All of them are named. They are: Asia, Europe, Antarctica, North America, South America, Australia and Africa. The biggest one is Asia and the smallest is Australia.
All the Continents are divided into different countries. Those Countries too have different unique names. All the countries have some rulers which may be a King, Queen, President etc.
I hope my answer helps you.
Small countries make big mistakes and big countries make small mistakes. They are not getting educated . They are only learning to repeat old messages because their leaders feed on politics and give the people what they don't need. That is why government's change all the time. They only leave when they have cheated the people. And you call in a new one and so on....
