Actually there is a geneticist who has found that while brown is more common, and the allele on the chromosome to create brown eyes in a person (think DNA blueprint that determines everything about you) is more common, brown eyes are NOT the dominant, nor the most common color. Almost all eyes, with the exception of the purple/violet trait and TRUE green are naturally BLUE. My sister, for example has deep brown eyes and i have blue/gray. However her eyes are TECHNICALLY BLUE, because it works in a similar way to a suntan (changing the skin's color through melanin). brown eyes are all actually blue but they are overlaid with melanin & pigments to cover the blue like a mask. This geneticist, whose name I don't remember (google it) has started experimentation of peoples in Mexico and central America to REMOVE the overlay of brown p[igment and cause the blue eyes to show. It is the first step in a long process of genetic research on how to alter things such as hair texture, waviness/straightness/color eye color and many other things. For the last 2 decades, scientists have been working on (and have found) the ability to pre-determine a baby's sex at the time of embryonic conception. (Test tube babies) also they have started working on ways to alter genomes, chromosomal materials and the basic DNA sub-structures so people could have a "Made-to-order" child. This has not taken off well for any of these groups and even what they can do (determine sex) is not being used due to societal moral standards against tampering with nature, due to Adolph Hitler's disgustingly cruel experiments to create the Aryan "Super-race". Quite frankly, it is scary what CAN be done now with DNA, eventually they may have those magic pills that change you hair to platinum or eyes to purple, but for now, if you want to fix what God or evolution gave you, go buy some contacts.

Also, eye color is not determined with the same method as mixing paint, and you cannot be "almost albino" you either are albino, and have Reddish-PINK eyes, or you are not albino. Eye color is determined by an allele on a chromosome on a strand of your DNA before you are born and while it does depend somewhat on what type of "eye color DNA" your parents have, anyone can be an anomaly, or a throwback to an EXTREMELY distant ancestor. As in an African-American couple who have a white ancestor have a child born with white skin, blonde hair 7 blue eyes. that child is still African American. the same can happen (and does, even more frequently) in a white family. Unless you are from a pure bloodline that has never intermingled with anyone of another race, you will be whatever race you are, up to 99%. It is not possible to have a 'totally white' or 'totally black' background considering we all evolved from the same place and adapted to our surroundings (OR, if you like, God created us all as different 'tribes' or races') Regardless of your beliefs, you can come out looking pretty much like anyone's guess, not as a half-mix of mother & father.

Weren't Elizabeth Taylor's eyes more of a blue that appeared only purple in certain lights? Though, yeah, they look very purple from here. Purple's an extremely rare color to come about naturally when talking about eye color. Generally, they teach in school that brown is the dominant eye color and blue the recessive. As we know, there are more eye colors, therefore more genes than brown or blue. Some say that the purple eye color is a result of some sort of genetic mutation, but really how far can it be from a dark blue eye color gene? It can't be that serious of a mutation if it were.

Because there are people with red eyes (a result of albinism - the blood vessels show through), some say that it's merely a form of albinism that combines the naturally blue eye color with the red blood vessels in the eye. Just wondering whether that combination can produce violet eyes as striking as in the pictures above.

Yes, I have purple eyes, my mom said that i was almost albino because when you have purple eyes two color mix which is Red and blue which makes, duh, purple! The red and blue was your eyes desiding whether to make you albino or not, but, instead it just Mixes and makes a purple color! If you have a mom or dad that has red eyes or obino then its a lot Of more of a chance to get purple eyes, like I do, but, usaully I wear contacts so People don't Judge me or, try to make me On TV! So it looks like I have Brown eyes instead of purple, well, actually its prounounced violet not purple people! :D

Yes. i know of a little girl whose eyes are purple. At first i thought she was wearing contacts but her mother also has purple eyes and she explained to me that it is because of a genetic mutation that their eyes are that colour. It appears that people with purple eyes are somewhat special: their skin is immune to sunburns, they have a stronger immune system and they live longer than the person with the usual eye colour.

Yes, it is a trait found among the welsh, but less than 5% of the population carries this gene.
