Can sperm survive a period

And how long can the actually survive in a women before they die?

Of course sperm can survive during a period.

Sperm travels through the fallopian tubes so there is no reason why they wouldn't survive during menstruation.

Menstruation is the result of the uterine lining shedding--the lining inside of the uterus. The lining becomes thick, anticipating that an embryo will be implanted. When no embryo implants into the uterus, the lining sheds and the result is your period.

If you have sex right before your period, the sperm are still swimming around in your fallopian tubes. Sperm can live up to a week, and sometimes longer under optimum conditions, inside of a female's body (fallopian tubes) before, during and after a period.

So sperm is not expelled during a period, and they are not killed by the period. The sperm are in the fallopian tubes (and do not go into the uterus unless it has fertilized an egg--in which case it is an embryo), while menstruation is shedding of the uterine lining--these are completely separate things.

If you conceived on May 17th, a pregnancy test would be negative. At-home pregnancy tests aren't supposed to be taken until AFTER your period is late--they are not designed to test positive after conception. Although there are some early ones, these are to be taken a few days before a scheduled period.

I couldn't tell you if May 17th is your conception date or not, but you likely did conceive in May based upon your due date and based upon your last period. All signs do point to your boyfriend being the father.

If you had a pregnancy test done on May 17th, and you last had sex with your boyfriend on May 10th, your boyfriend is likely not the father--it's likely to be the guy that you had sex with in April. If you had sex with both of them in April, then it could be either.

I would make sure that you are absolutely certain about the pregnancy test date. A pregnancy test is too soon to show up positive within seven days after sex/intercourse. Sorry.

Yes, it is possible to get pregnant at any time during your cycle including right after a period.

It would all depend upon if your ovaries released an egg. Usually an egg is released once a month from the ovaries and about the same time each month. But there is always a possibility that your ovaries will produce an egg and release it at any given time, and sperm usually live for about a week.

OMG! You have got to be kidding me with all of this information, but here goes anyhow.

If your first pregnancy test was negative (which was important to mention), your extra-curricular interlude did not result with pregnancy. Your boyfriend is the father. It also lines up with your due date. So, the matter should be settled.

"Conception date" is the day that the sperm fertilized the egg. If you are saying that your "conception date" is May 17th, why would you think that it would be in April around your period? It's May 17th.

Sperm can indeed survive menstruation. It is not very likely that it could happen. But it is very much a possibility. Once inside, sperm can survive a range of 3 to 5 days inside of a woman.

If your due date is February 7th, then you likely conceived in May. April 20th to May is too long for sperm to survive.
