Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system. Mercury being nearest to sun is cooler than Venus. This may be because the gases present in atmosphere of Venus that absorbs the maximum infrared.

The high volume carbon dioxide is the main reason, the atmosphere of the Venus allows the suns radiation to enter directly to the surface and the reflected radiation from the surface of the Venus are not able to escape from the planet.

Average daily temperatures for the eight planets (in degrees Celsius) are:

400 Mercury
460 Venus
20 Earth
-5 Mars
-121 Jupiter
-125 Saturn
-193 Uranus
-193 Neptune

As stated above, the carbon dioxide in its atmosphere does indeed make Venus the hottest planet in the solar system.

Venus. Although Mercury is the closest planet to earth, but Venus has an atmosphere full of green house gases like carbon dioxide, which do not let incoming solar radiation escape out into the universe.
