What are the main objections for considering Pluto as a Planet?

Is Pluto still considered a Planet of our Solar system?

Pluto is not a planet anymore because in 2006, at the meeting of the International Astronomical Union, members voted on - for the first time - the actual definition of a planet. And Pluto didn't fit within that definition.

My bottom line summary of why Pluto doesn't fit, is this: Pluto is located within the Kuiper belt of asteroids, and for it to be a planet, it would need to have enough mass to clear that belt of asteroids. It doesn't, so Pluto does not qualify under the current definition, as a planet.

Some of the controversy has arisen because of the small number of members who actually participated in the voting -out of the overall membership.

My opionion they are done the correct that pluto is removed from its position as a planet, otherwise the number of planets must increased in today's situation. In 2006 Eris was discovered, whose mass is greater than pluto's mass. This lead to three way classification in which pluto is considered as dwarf planet, the new category.Pluto is downgraded to second dwarf planet due to the following reasons. In its orbiting some times it becomes the 8th planet, its surface is rocky and icey but other outerplanets surface is gasseous, its number of satellite is only 3 but other outer planets has number of satellites, its size is small etc.

One of the qualifications of a 'planet', is that its gravity has cleared out the area around it's orbit of debris. Both Pluto and Eris orbit in debris fields and they both lack the gravity to do their housework.

There are many objections for considering Pluto as a planet or not. The main reason is that the planet Pluto is very small. Pluto does not fit the definition of a "real" planet.

They asked something along these lines on a game show recently and I thought to myself how that wasn't fair because it has changed depending on when you were in school.

Its size is the main objection to it being considered a planet.

Thank you for the question.

It simply is too small, too far away, and its orbit is too irregular.
