How many planets are in this sola system?Infamo30 - 6 Answers
There are eight planets in our solar system. They include Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Pluto used to be known as the ninth planet of our solar system but recently experts have determined that it is not actually a planet so it is no longer considered one, hence the planet total for our solar system changing to eight.
In school when students were taught the planets, they were given a saying that would help them remember all the planets and their order in the solar system relevant to their distance from the sun. It was - My Very Educated Mother Just Sold Us Nine Pickles. Now that Pluto is no longer considered a planet I wonder if this saying is still taught in schools, and if not, what saying has been chosen as its replacement.
Besides the Earth, astronomers have so far discovered seven other orbs in our solar system that can be called planets. They are Venus, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus.
Pluto was discovered earlier in the 20th century and was deemed a planet until recently in this new millennium when it was reduced to a dwarf planet or 'moon' status.
Who really knows what future discoveries will bring, but right now there are eight planets + Pluto.
There are eight planets in our solar system. They are, in no particular order, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus. The ninth planet, Pluto, has been reclassified as a dwarf planet, so it is no longer considered one of the major planets in our solar system. Instead, it belongs to a class of very small planets called plutoids, most of which are found in the Kuiper Belt....
At school, I learnt tha the our solar system has 9 planets. All named from anciens greek gods.....Earth, Venus, Mars, Neptune, Satern, Uranus, Jupiter, Mercury and Pluto.
Recently I read an article about Pluto... saying that Pluto is no longer considered as a planet.
So now according to the scientists....the solar system has 8 planets.
If you go by the book, there are 8, including planet Earth. Even though Pluto was recently had its 'planet' title revoked, there are a few objects beyond Pluto that orbit the Sun in the same fashion that planets do, but are too small to be considered actual planets....
